Education
|
Good schooling and diverse opportunities for professional training and ongoing education rank high with those responsible in the region. Children, young people and adults can learn, and consolidate what they have learned, in a wide range of educational institutions, culminating in Freiberg University of Technology. This is not a new development, for education and science have a long tradition in the Ore Mountains. In 1523, arithmetician Adam Ries established his arithmetic school in Annaberg, and in the same town the Royal Saxon Teachers’ Training Seminary, the first public institution in the Ore Mountains for the training of primary school teachers, was opened in 1842, offering higher education to talented young people. |
